Hands. One of my favorite topics. Not only for the beauty and aesthetic, also for the power to create any kind of marvelous things. A friend of mine told me once that my obsession with hands is because my own hands are broken in multiple parts. Could be.

In Bali, as in the majority of Indonesia, the rings are not only a decorative accessory. They symbolize power. Political and social power. But at the same time and more important in deed is the character of protection against bad energies and spirits. In other words, protection against black magic.

Made of Silver or Gold together with a very special "stone". This "stones" are believed to have special magical powers. I have heart amazing stories about it. This rings need a very special care, as for example they have to leave the rings out before coming into the toilet or places considered not cleaned.

"Ancient Hands"

Hands are other of my "obsessions". To me, is a real mirror of the experience and history of someone. These hands belongs to a woman that couldn't tell me how old she was.

Welcome everybody to this space.Let me introduce myself. I was born in Tolosa, a small town very close to San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain. "The Pearl of the Cantabric Sea", where we moved when I was 7 years old. Always interested on any expression of art, working on decoration, painting and restoration during several years, photography finally chose me as the perfect way of saying with an image what maybe we can not say with words. Get into people's feelings and try to catch what we really are, more than what we are supossed to be, is the meaning of photography as a way of reflecting the reality of our society. Now I live in Bali, Indonesia. This is my fifth year of living in this so called "The Island of Gods", where I've been "recording" with a very simple camera the corners of this place and its people. That's what makes Bali and Indonesia so exited and inspired to my eyes, how the normal people live and how they make from the cotidianity simple peaces of art. The tradition mixed with the modernity. The ancient and the new technologies in the same place, trying to share the space and survive all together, and most of all, the tight conection with earth. This space just pretends to share my work with all of you. My vision of life of what I see and that maybe will also touch many of you, where you could also can give your opinion of what you think about these images, and also you can get them printed on photographic paper. " THOUGHTS "

Happy New Year 2008.

Another more, another number making bigger the accounting. But...do we really want to go to a place where we don't even know if actually exists?

I think that we haven't learned too much of our experience and history. Trust me, if I could I would invert the timing. I would call this New Year 2006, and so on.

I'm totally convinced that we can only find our essence as human beings looking backwards where the history and experience of ancient civilizations could give us the key for the future. And future is not tomorrow or next year. Is just NOW.

Meanwhile, the most intelligent brains of the planet dedicate their life to create bigger and more massive and destructive weapons. Have you ever thought if all these incredible brains were working just in the other direction??????? If they were working in a positive and creative way??????

But the army, specially the American, pays veeeery well. What is amazing is that they are really convinced that they are doing what they have to for a loyal cause and honorable reason of defending us from the enemies.

Let's go back to our roots. Let's stop. Don't we have enough??? Let's learn to use our knowledge in a better and smarter way.

Dear Friends and Fans:

From today, 01/11/2007, my blog is going to include different kind of pictures. Is a need. There are many other things I am interested on, and I would love to share with all of you a different work from the B&W, which I promise to my unconditional fans, to continue updating with more B&W. "Walking through life, the only life we have, the one that sometimes we can not even choose or change...what for?

Time, that second after second simply disappears bringing new space for unknown new experiences.

Look at the subject, try to read the essence of it, learn about it and understand what is behind that image. What is behind is not a physical object. Is the soul of every object and subject, that many times touches us very deep because we have already that feeling inside us.

The triangle that represents object, camera and spectator. They are not far away one from the other, and they need each other to complete the circle.
